MISSION STATEMENT
The Derby Middle School PTA is a parent organization that provides opportunities to create a strong school community through our mission to CONNECT the home, school, and community and to ENRICH every child’s learning experience.
WHO WE ARE
The Derby PTA unites our parents and teachers under one common goal - to enrich our children's educational experiences and make them the very best they can be. Our amazing, involved parent community is one of the reasons that Derby continues to be such a strong school! Your support and involvement reflects the remarkable spirit of our middle school!
WHAT WE DO
We support all facets of the Derby Middle School community through academic enrichment programs, teacher grants and parent volunteer initiatives that provide resources that are not funded through the BPS school district.
Below are some examples of the PTA activities.
COMMUNICATION: Through our Facebook page and email communications, we strive to connect parents within the Derby community. Our PTA meetings are open to all parents and guardians of Derby students. Visit our calendar for dates.
ANNUAL FUNDRAISER "DRAGON DONATION": The Derby PTA aims to fund over $15,000 annually in academic enrichment programs, initiatives and events, teacher grants and so much more, all funded from your Dragon Donation! This is our main fundraiser for the year and your donation makes these grants and all our programming possible. Your donations are fully tax deductible. Visit our store to donate now!
TEACHER GRANTS: Each year, through Derby PTA Teacher Grants, we provide funding for educational enrichment for Derby teachers and administration. Funding is focused on, but not limited to, technology, teaching materials, and training for our school.
TEACHER/STAFF APPRECIATION: A fun and easy way to say THANK YOU to all our amazing teachers and staff. We provide meals and snacks during the year and Teacher Appreciation Week in the spring.
ACCREDITATIONS: The Derby PTA works throughout the year maintaining accreditations achieved and identifying and pursuing new ones! Derby recently became a Michigan Green School. To receive Green School certification, a school must document completion of at least 10 approved environmental activities. We thank the parent volunteers who helped make this happen!
